Virginity Test For Men...

Virginity Test for Men...

We are all pioneers of Modern India and representatives of this scientific era. Recently, we've celebrated 72nd Independence day and are happy citizens of India. But in this era, there's a community called 'Kanjarbhat' where women are still supposed to go through virginity tests. In MP some women have to go through 'Kukri' tradition, while some have to do 'Khatna'. Which creates a direct question on the existence of women. In realm when we talk about equality, which further creates some questions like 'if this is for me then why is that for you?' or 'if this is for me then this is also for you?'
This is how virginity was and continues to be ‘tested’. Traditionally, weddings were consummated in a tent made of tarpaulin with Panchs or elders standing outside until intercourse was completed. Today, this takes place in a sanitized hotel room after making sure that there are no sharp objects in the room, there's nothing that is capable of piercing the skin and drawing blood. A white sheet is spread on the bed, on which the elders (now from the family) wait to see if there are drops of blood.
And then the groom is asked degrading questions by the panchayat of elders. “How was the maal (the goods)?” or “Was the performance good?” “Was the glass broken?” If blood is not drawn, the hymen is assumed ruptured due to previous sexual intercourse. Purification rituals are prescribed. It is rare that a girl is believed if she claims to have had no previous relationship and if the hymen has been ruptured out of natural causes, even though it is possible due to physical exercises as well.
Naturally, some girls can have a very thin layer of the hymen, some may not have it or some might have a thick layer which can't rupture during first sex then, how wrong it is to test their virginity in an above-mentioned way. And even if those communities want to practice such inhuman traditions which create the huge question on the character of women then why not men can go through a virginity test? Even when Kunti gave birth to Karna she had hidden her Virginity, Draupadi who had 5 husbands but still they are considered sacred; then why can't we accept these women of Kanjarbhat community if they are not virgin? and why they should accept men who don't go through such type of test? Whilst in the 21st century all women are working with equal efficiency as men then why only they have to go through this? But women are so understanding, that they don't think in such a way. They don't want men to go through this instead, they don't want anyone to go through such harsh traditions.
I would like to thank Vivek Tamaichikar who belong to the same community but has started the war against this tradition and many youngsters are supporting him in this while they have been attacked by some of their clanmates.  When someone among us is trying to bring change there's always someone who will create trouble for that someone. When are we going to change this mentality?
In conclusion, let's make the revolution in entire society and let's prefer being mentally or morally virgin(pure) than being it physically.
